Warrawong Book Talk

For our meeting on the 15th March at 2pm we will, at the request of one of our members, venture into the classics and discuss Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.  This book tells the story of the orphan Jane who is sent to live with her aunt and cousins where she is constantly bullied.  After she lashes out in anger one day she is sent away to Lowood school where at first she is treated cruelly by the staff,  particularly the headmaster.  After a tuberculosis epidemic kills her friend Helen Burns the cruelty at the school is brought to light and Jane is able to spend some happy years there.  On leaving the school she takes up a position at Thornfield Hall as a governess to Adele, and it is there that she meets Mr Rochester and becomes involved in the mystery surrounding Thornfield Hall. If you would like to be part of the group discussing this book come to Warrawong Library and ask for a copy.  New members are always welcome to join our friendly group.  Diane Group Coordinator
