For our meeting on October 10th we will be reading The Warrior’s princess by Barbara Erskine. The story for this book is as follows. Jess is a teacher in London. One day she is attacked by a person she feels knows her very well. After the attack Jess flees to her sister’s house in Wales to recuperate but there she is haunted by the cries of a mysterious child. Two thousand years before the valley below was the scene of a great battle between King Caractacus, the leader of the British tribes, and the invading Romans. The proud warrior is captured and taken a prisoner to Rome with his wife and daughter, the princess Eigon. Jean is inexorably drawn to investigate Eigon’s story and the Welsh house ceases to be a peaceful sanctuary. Compelled to complete Eigon’s story she travels to Rome, but in her quest she takes risks which put her, and those she loves in danger.
