Our July Book The Help was very popular with the group and scored 8.5 out of 10.

The book that the group will discuss at their meeting on August 6th in the library is The happiest refugee by Ahn Do. Ahn and his family almost lost their lives on the boat journey to Australia when they were attacked twice by pirates. Life in Australia was a struggle for the family. Ahn hated getting into trouble for being different but he was too proud to tell that the family did not have the money whether it be for his school uniform or a text book. And things got harder when his father left. Ahn’s mother’s hard work was an inspiration to him and he worked hard in his teenage years to help make ends meet. Now he is a happily married family man and one of Australia’s best loved comedians. If you would like to join us for a discussion of this book describing Ahn’s journey ask for a  copy in the library. New members are welcome to join the group.
